Mirror Lake Inn still impressing Conde Nast Traveler readers

LAKE PLACID — In the annual Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa received a pair of notable distinctions. The publication’s readers voted the Mirror Lake Inn as the best resort in the Northeastern United States and second overall in the combined Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.

“Conde Nast readers are among the most discerning travelers in the nation, and to be so highly regarded by them speaks highly not only of the Inn, but more importantly, it speaks volumes of our staff,” said Ed Weibrecht, Mirror Lake Inn owner for nearly 50 years. “Our employees go the extra mile to make sure that our guests have memorable experiences. This is proof personified, and we, as owners and managers can’t thank them enough for their efforts.”

Over 750,000 participated in the Readers’ Choice Awards. Categories included hotels, resorts, airlines, cruises and more.

These plaudits for the 101-year-old Mirror Lake Inn, which offers an authentic Adirondack experience, follow the June announcement from AAA which continued the Lake Placid establishment’s run of 41 consecutive years with the Four Diamond Award of Excellence. The seven-acre upscale property, with 122 units that all face Mirror Lake and the Adirondack High Peaks, is guided by the AAA Four Diamond mantra of the four Cs: cleanliness, comfort, cuisine and consistency.

The Inn’s accompanying The View Restaurant collected the AAA Four Diamond Award for the 17th straight year. Together, this Adirondack property is the only Four Diamond lodging and dining combination in the Upstate New York region. The View Restaurant also continued its two-glass distinction from Wine Spectator, an indication of the “Best of” Award of Excellence.

Also, in 2024, the Michelin Guide included the Mirror Lake Inn in its roster of One Key lodging properties. There are just 207 such designated hotels in the nation.

“What we have accomplished here is a source of great pride,” Weibrecht said. “Certainly, our location is stunning with such amazing views around us. But what makes this a home for so many of our guests is a direct result of the care that the staff puts into it the property and each visitor’s stay.”

As this Lake Placid resort moves through the fall foliage season, it is preparing for several of its primary weekends in the final quarter of the year. Adirondack Culinary Weekend is set for Nov. 14-16. Held in conjunction with the Carriage House Cooking School, guests will enjoy an Italian theme with demonstrations featuring the Foods of Emilia-Romagna. This will be followed by Girls Getaway Weekend Dec. 5-7.

Starting at $1.44/week.
