Lake Placid Rotary Club welcomes 4 new members

LAKE PLACID — The Rotary Club of Lake Placid is proud to welcome four new members, each bringing unique experiences and a shared passion for community service.

Jessica Ballinger has more than 30 years of leadership in biotech and pharmaceuticals, most recently as CEO of Lyndra Therapeutics. She and her husband Barry live in Lake Placid and enjoy travel, photography and cycling.

When asked why she wanted to join Rotary, Ballinger said, “I am a mission-driven person who aspires to help others to raise the boats for all in the communities and businesses I live in and lead.”

Rick Preston, a doctor of physical therapy, spent three decades leading Rehabilitation Services and Sports Medicine at Adirondack Medical Center. He has served on the school board, town council, and Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service, and is an avid marathoner and Ironman triathlete.

Asked about joining Rotary, Preston said, “I value community service and enjoy working with organizations that give back. After attending several Rotary meetings, I knew this was a group of good people — many of whom I already know.”

Elise Stosiek moved to Lake Placid in 1991 and recently retired after a 40-year career in health care, including roles on a Navajo Reservation, in hospitals and as the nurse at the Lake Placid Elementary School. She volunteers with the Olympic Regional Development Authority and Lake Placid Thrift & Thrive.

Reflecting on her membership, Stosiek said, “I want to be part of an organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of the local community.”

Erin DeSantis is a strategic communications and advocacy professional with 20 years of experience in climate change, sustainability and public health. Locally, she serves on the boards of the AuSable River Valley Business Association and the AuSable Acres Property Owners Association.

DeSantis explained her decision to join this way: “I admire Rotary’s commitment to service and its four-way test. I’m excited to work on local projects, connect with community members and support Rotary’s global mission.”

With these new members, the Rotary Club of Lake Placid continues to grow its tradition of service, leadership and community impact.
