Olympic region now past peak foliage as colors move to lower elevations

LAKE PLACID — On Wednesday, Oct. 8, I Love NY released its fifth weekly foliage forecast of 2025. It runs through Oct. 14 and notes that the peak has largely passed.

The High Peaks and other higher locations that are typically the first to turn colors are past peak, with a few stubborn splotches of color remaining. The Tri-Lakes communities — Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake — are expected to have a bit more color this week than the mountains, but are past peak, while the Champlain Valley and other lower-elevation regions outside of the Adirondacks will be at or nearing peak.
