Lake Placid Institute’s Summer Roundtable Series begins Saturday

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid Center for the Arts is joining the Lake Placid Institute in presenting this summer’s John C. Bogle Adirondack Roundtable series.

On Saturday, July 12, starting at 8:30 a.m., author Christopher Shaw will give a presentation titled “The Mountains as Muse: Fictionalizing the Adirondacks.” He will discuss the creative process of taking a real place and its reality and turning it into fiction, followed by a reading from his 2025 book, “The Manager.”

On Saturday, Aug. 9, starting at 8:30 a.m., Juan Souki, MidAtlantic Arts executive director, will give a presentation titled “The Arts as Catalyst: Connecting Culture, Economy and Community.” Juan Souki will examine the national funding landscape for arts and culture — where we stand today and what we can anticipate moving forward — as the field continues to adapt in today’s dynamic economic and social climate. Souki will offer a national perspective on how the arts intersect with broader economic and community development efforts, and why a vibrant cultural sector is essential to a healthy society.

Both Roundtables will be held at the Cambria Hotel Lake Placid, 2127 Saranac Ave. Shuttle service is offered between LPCA and Cambria beginning at 7:30 a.m. Breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Roundtable at 9 a.m. Tickets are on sale at lakeplacidarts.org or by calling 518-523-2512, for $27 in advance, $32 at the door and $12 for students.

Starting at $1.44/week.
