Other festivities in Lake Placid begin at 5 p.m. with the Fourth of July parade down Main Street. The route begins at the Olympic Center and ends at the intersection of Main Street and Saranac Avenue. This year’s theme is “The People’s Parade.”

“We want this to feel like a true hometown celebration,” said Catherine Ericson, Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism community liaison and member of the organizing committee. “Whether you’re a local business, a scout troop, a group of co-workers or just a few friends who want to dress up and bring some joy to Main Street — we want you in this parade. This is a chance to showcase the creativity, spirit and pride of our community.”

At 9:30 p.m., the Lake Placid Fourth of July Fireworks will begin over Mirror Lake. This event is expected to draw a crowd, so people are encouraged to find a place early. To hear the fireworks set to music, tune in to 93.3 FM, or download the “Lake FM – Lake Placid” app.

On Saturday and Sunday, the I Love New York Horse Show continues, starting both days at 8 a.m. Saturday’s fun will feature slightly smaller animals with the Doggie Costume Contest. Registration for this event starts at 11:30 a.m. for the noon start time.

Across the street on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Olympic Jumping Complex at 5486 Cascade Road will be hosting the Star-Spangled Ski Jump competition. Competitions in both live ski jumping and Nordic combined will include athletes of all levels, from youth to elite. There will also be running and roller skiing races and an awards ceremony.
