Health awareness event set for Aug. 27

WILMINGTON — Lake Placid/Wilmington Connecting Youth and Communities Coalition, Inc. will host their 4th annual Health Awareness event from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27 at the Wilmington town beach.

The theme of this year’s event is recognizing people in our community who are champions. This year, the event will celebrate Tina Preston of Wilmington, Geoffrey Neu of Lake Placid and a junior at the Lake Placid High School, Colin Preston.

In addition to the champion stories, a variety of agencies will be present, Narcan and CPR training will be offered and there will be free refreshments. The event will conclude with a candlelight vigil.

The Lake Placid/Wilmington Connecting Youth and Communities Coalition, Inc. is a nonprofit youth development organization creating and connecting a multigenerational community promoting mental, physical and spiritual health by empowering and educating our youth to become leaders and engaged citizens.
