LAKE PLACID — A cabin on Saranac Avenue in Lake Placid burned down in the early morning Thursday, March 28, displacing its residents. Firefighters say the building is a total loss.

The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 1970 Saranac Ave. with three trucks and 15 members at 3:18 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they found the small cabin was fully engulfed in flames. They did not attempt to ventilate the cabin and instead worked on preventing the fire from spreading to the neighboring cabins.

LPVFD received mutual aid from the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department, who sent a truck and manpower. The scene was clear at 7:29 a.m.

Firefighters said the cabin was occupied, though they did not know how many people were living there.
