LAKE PLACID — More than 400 residents and visitors participated in the 14th annual Adirondack Health 5K Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving day, Thursday, Nov. 23, making their way around Mirror Lake.

“This is our largest year,” race organizer Andrea Chamberlain said after being told before the race that there were 464 people who registered. In all, 410 people finished the race, according to the official results.

Many runners and walkers huddled inside the Mirror Lake Beach House to keep warm while organizers finished registering people before the race. Many others waited outside in the cold. It was 28 degrees F and lightly snowing at the 8:30 a.m. start on Parkside Drive.

In order to make it a true 5K (3.1 miles), they circled around the beach house before finishing the 2.7-mile loop around the lake, going clockwise.

The fastest time was 14 minutes and 58 seconds. The top three runners were Adam Quinn (first), Andrew Scanio (second) and Adam Lewis (third), with the top three female runners being Syd Steger (seventh overall), Elizabeth Izzo (13th overall) and Molly Peters (14th overall). The slowest time was 1 hour, 30 minutes and 29 seconds.
