LAKE PLACID — State Olympic Regional Development Authority workers started flooding ice sheets at the James C. Sheffield Speed Skating Oval on Monday, Nov. 20, including the hockey box. The oval is scheduled to open for the season on Friday, Nov. 24 and will be open during non-holiday weeks from Thursday to Monday during scheduled hours. During the Thanksgiving holiday weekend — Friday through Sunday — public skating sessions are scheduled for 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 1:30 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Additionally, the Olympic Center will be offering select indoor public skating in the 1932 Arena from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday and Stick N’ Puck sessions in the USA Rink from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday.
