Halloween events planned in the Tri-Lakes

LAKE PLACID — There are plenty of Halloween events in the Olympic Region for tricksters and treat-seekers of all ages and interests this weekend and next week.
Lake Placid will host trick-or-treating on Main Street on Tuesday, Oct. 31 — downtown businesses will start offering candy immediately following the Halloween parade. The parade, which will feature local students, will start at noon. Trick-or-treating will end at 5 p.m.
Wilmington’s sixth annual trunk or treat event at the KOA campground at 5591 state Route 86 will run from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29. Families are welcome to bring their cars, kids and candy to the campground and have some spooky fun with the community. Food — not just sweets — will also be available at the campground.
Lake Placid will host its traditional Halloween parade down Main Street on Oct. 31. The parade will begin lining up at 11:50 a.m. at the corner of Saranac Avenue.
Later that day, the Lake Placid Police Department will host its annual Halloween dance at the Olympic Conference Center. From 3 to 5 p.m., the dance will be for children elementary-aged and younger. Students in sixth through eighth grade will be welcomed for festive fun between 6 and 8:30 p.m., and high schoolers may stay from 6 to 10 p.m. The dance is open to students from Lake Placid and the town of Wilmington.
The AuSable Forks Free Library will host a Halloween trivia night from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27.
The Saranac Lake Free Library will host a story time Halloween party at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26 for children of all ages. Snacks and spooky stories will be on offer.
The Adirondack Carousel at 2 Depot St. in Saranac Lake is hosting a party on Oct. 31 from 3 to 5 p.m. with free carousel rides and refreshments.
Play ADK, at 84 Main St. in Saranac Lake, will host a costume party for kids from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 28. The party will be free and will feature crafts and snacks.
ADK ArtRise, at 62 Main St. in Saranac Lake, will host a Halloween art show featuring student art at 5 p.m. on Oct. 28. An $8 donation is suggested. There will be a costume contest from 5 to 10 p.m. with prizes for the Facebook favorite adult costume, the Facebook favorite kids’ costume and the ArtRise judges’ pick. There is a $10 entry fee for the contest. Later on, from 8 to 10 p.m., there will be a Halloween party with a bar and live music by the Daily Deadlines.
Ampersand Bay Resort will host a Halloween block party from 4 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 28. The party will featured themed drinks, trick-or-treating, a beach bonfire, activities for kids, treats from Jamdots Baking Company and live music by the Midnight Stargazers. Tickets are $30 and can be reserved by calling 518-891-3001. Children 5 years old and younger will be admitted for free.
There will be a Halloween scavenger hunt at the Dewey Mountain Recreation Center in Saranac Lake from 2 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 29. The scavenger hunt will be on foot, and a $5 donation is suggested. Costumes are encouraged.
The Adirondack Daily Enterprise is hosting a costume contest on Oct. 31 through Nov. 3. Kids in costumes are encouraged to stop by the newspaper’s offices in their costumes at 54 Broadway to sign up to enter. Parents can also submit photos for the contest by Nov. 3 for a chance to win a prize.
On Oct. 28, the Tri-Lakes Humane Society in Saranac Lake will host a Halloween party with a trick-or-treat trail walk from 2 to 4 p.m. There will be pumpkin painting and goody bags available at a first come, first serve basis. On Oct. 30 from 7 to 10 p.m., residents are invited to stop by the humane society to walk through the Haunted Halloween Trail.
Historic Saranac Lake is hosting an event, “Historic Scare-anac Lake,” at the Saranac Laboratory Museum, 89 Church St., on Thursday, Nov. 2 from 3 to 6 p.m. Attendees can expect history, haunts and hands-on activities. This event is geared toward students age 5-12 and organizers are encouraging kids to arrive wearing their Halloween costume. Admission will be free for children and their chaperones, but donations will be accepted.
