LAKE PLACID — The Barkeater Trails Alliance announced Tuesday, Oct. 10 that Glenn Glover will succeed Josh Wilson as the group’s new executive director.

Glover, who brings a wealth of local and regional recreational experience and an extensive leadership track record, said he is eager to contribute his expertise to further enhance BETA’s impact in the Adirondacks.

“BETA has benefited from the incredible leadership of Josh Wilson. I look forward to building on this strong foundation and strengthening the dedicated volunteerism, stewardship, and local community engagement that make BETA so successful,” Glover said in a statement.

Glover’s professional background includes six years as the executive director of the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance, where he transformed the nonprofit into one of the nation’s foremost trail organizations. For four years as president/president elect at Washington State Trails Coalition, he expanded the organization’s efforts to support trails across the state for both recreation and transportation. Additionally, Glover spent three years managing statewide recreation and resources for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.

“Thanks to his wide-ranging experience, Glenn possesses a deep understanding of the work involved in leading a trails organization like BETA,” Wilson said in a statement. “He is a thoughtful and humble leader who values high-quality trails, the power of volunteerism, and the importance of advocacy and community partnerships. I am thrilled with the board’s decision to hire Glenn, and I know he will do a great job inspiring our volunteers and members while leading BETA into the future.”

Glover is transitioning into his new role throughout October, with Josh Wilson serving as interim executive director. They will both be supported by Outreach Coordinator Jamie McGiver and Trails Coordinator Dusty Grant. On Oct. 30, Glover will officially take the reins. He and his wife, Toni, will relocate to the Adirondacks and are excited to join the dedicated trails community. BETA is planning a series of events in early November to give the community the chance to meet Glenn.

“BETA has been incredibly fortunate to have Josh as E.D. for the last eight years,” BETA board President Patrick Carey said in a statement. “There was no more perfect person to lead BETA into what it is today. Glenn is exactly the right person to continue that momentum and further our mission of creating equitable access to human-powered recreation. As we take on new projects, we will continue to strengthen our roots in stewardship, volunteerism and local community engagement.”
