Antisemitism discussion set for Sunday in Keene Valley

KEENE VALLEY — On Sunday, Aug. 20, the Keene Valley Congregational Church is hosting a panel discussion on the history and roots of antisemitism, the challenges faced in the North Country and opportunities for making local communities, residents and visitors safer. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.

Presenters will explore the menace of this often-violent hatred and bigotry from a historical perspective to horrific present-day occurrences, including a discussion on activism based on a newfound vigilance and re-connection. The session will provide plenty of time for questions and reflection by audience members.

The presenters are Rabbi David Joslin, Beth Israel Temple, Plattsburgh; Tom Glaser, a family member of Holocaust survivors who will share a short video, “Surviving Evil;” Sue Semegram, board president, Lake Placid Synagogue; and Karen Glass, parent and advocate. Lake Placid News columnist Naj Wikoff will moderate.

The event is free and open to the public. The Keene Valley Congregational Church is located at 1791 Route 73.

Starting at $1.44/week.
