The speech is part of the APA’s ongoing guest speaker series in celebration of the agency’s 50th anniversary. The presentation is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 18.

The Adirondack Park Agency will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, Aug. 17 and Friday, Aug. 18. The meeting will be held at the agency’s headquarters in Ray Brook. The public is welcome to attend in person or remotely.

Public comment will be available to members of the public who attend the agency meeting in person as well as those who participate remotely. Those who would like the opportunity to make a public comment remotely can email their name and the phone number used to call into the board meeting to AgencyMeeting.PublicComment@apa.ny.gov. Those who sign up for public comment will be limited to three minutes each. Public comment will not be accepted on any agenda items that are before the board.

On Thursday at 9 a.m., the full agency will convene for APA Executive Director Barbara Rice’s monthly report, public comment and other procedural actions.

At 9:30 a.m., the State Land Committee will hear a summary of public comments and be updated on changes to the proposed Final Unit Management Plan for the Broadalbin Boat Launch. The committee may also consider adopting a resolution finding the plan in conformance with the Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan.

New York state Department of Environmental Conservation staff will also present public drafts of the Rollins Pond Campground and Day Use Area Unit Management Plan and the Golden Beach Campground and Day Use Area Unit Management Plan. The plans detail proposed management actions for these units. The committee may authorize a 30-day joint APA/DEC public comment period on these draft plans.

Agency staff will brief the board on State Land Master Plan guidelines and criteria for Intensive Use Areas. This information is considered by staff when evaluating intensive uses areas to determine if proposed management actions conform to the Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan.

The committee meeting will conclude with an information only presentation from agency staff summarizing the upcoming 2023 State Land Classification Package. The summary will provide an overview of included land parcels and outline the process for classifying and reclassifying state lands.

At 1 p.m., the Regulatory Programs Committee will convene for an update on telecommunications projects within the park. Staff will also present the draft Eligible Facilities Request General Permit for telecommunications projects that propose modifications that do not result in substantial changes to existing facilities. The committee may recommend that the Full Board authorize a 30-day comment period as required for General Permits pursuant to Agency regulations.

On Friday morning at 10 a.m., the Public Awareness and Communication Committee will convene for the APA 50th Anniversary Guest Speaker Series.

At 11 a.m., the full agency will convene to take any necessary actions.
