LAKE PLACID — Lake Placid Elementary School fourth-grade students in Allison Smith’s class recently spent a week preparing for their annual History Fair.

From Friday, June 2 to Friday, June 9, each student chose an artifact, researched it and created a presentation for the end of the week explaining the history connected to the object.

Artifacts were supplied by the Lake Placid-North Elba Historical Society and Wilmington Historical Society. Lake Placid’s director, Sophie Morelli, and one of its trustees, Margie Gallagher, and Wilmington’s president, Karen Peters, spent the week working with the students. All are former teachers.

About 45 students took part in the History Fair this year. They spent June 9 on their presentations and enjoyed a pizza party for lunch.

Starting at $1.44/week.
