Keene Arts to host Brazilian jazz concert June 17

KEENE — East Branch Friends of the Arts, in collaboration with Keene Arts, presents the Brazilian jazz World on a String Trio featuring guitarist Paul Meyers and drummer Vanderlei Periera at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at Keene Arts.

Potsdam native Paul Meyers has been acclaimed in the New York Times as “one of the most eloquent jazz guitarists since Kenny Burrell” and as a “virtuoso guitarist and improviser who brings his own voice to each melody” in Just Jazz Guitar magazine. He spent many years in the New York jazz scene and is bringing the World on a String trio featuring a to Keene for the first time. Drummer Vanderlei Pereira, from Rio de Janeiro, is one of the most sought-after musicians on the contemporary Brazilian jazz scene. Combining a prodigious knowledge of Brazilian rhythms with dazzling technique and a distinctive touch, he has captivated audiences around the world, playing jazz, popular, and classical music, including a six-year performance internship with the renowned Orquesta Sinfonica Brasiliera.

The suggested donation for the concert is $15 and $10 for EBFA members. It is free for students.
