During the day, the Potsdam Brass Quintet will visit Lake Placid Elementary School and Lake Placid Middle/High School, as well as St. Agnes School. They will perform at the Lake Placid Elementary School’s “Lunch and Learn,” present a short recital for the entire student body at St. Agnes, and host master classes and attend a rehearsal at the Lake Placid Middle-High School. This residency replaces the previously planned student quintet residency canceled this past March due to illness.

In addition to the in-school program, the quintet will present a free public performance at 5 p.m. at Mr. Mike’s Pizza Restaurant at 2742 Main St. in Lake Placid, followed by a meet and greet reception with complimentary light refreshments. The performance will last about half an hour and the restaurant will be open to any who wants to purchase menu items. Free-will donations will be accepted to support the Lake Placid Sinfonietta’s education programs.

The Lake Placid Sinfonietta’s education programs are presented with support from the Glenn and Carol Pearsall Adirondack Foundation. The Potsdam Brass Quintet, established in 1968, is the brass quintet-in-residence at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. The current members of the Potsdam Brass Quintet are Brianne Borden and Luke Spence (trumpet), Lauren Becker (horn), Christopher Hernacki (trombone) and Charles Guy (tuba). All are members of the Crane faculty. The Potsdam Brass Quintet has performed in concert throughout much of the United States and Canada, including performances at New York’s Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
