LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid Sinfonietta Education Committee this week announced a residency of the Frackenpohl Honors Brass Quintet, on Friday, March 31.

The quintet will be in the Lake Placid Schools during the day and will offer a public recital followed by a meet-and-greet reception at 5:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of St. Eustace Church in Lake Placid. This program is presented with support from the Glenn and Carol Pearsall Adirondack Foundation.

The Frackenpohl Honors Brass Quintet is comprised of five exceptional students from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. The ensemble was established in 2008 thanks to a generous endowment fund in honor of Arthur and Mary Ellen Frackenpohl. The members are selected by audition at the beginning of each academic year. FHBQ has performed in recitals, master classes, and schools across New York state and beyond. In addition to a financial award, the group is coached by Crane School of Music brass faculty and supported in diverse musical and performance experiences. Current members of the Frackenpohl Honors Brass Quintet include Olivia Montagno and Ryan Rafferty (trumpets), Ryan Eckl (horn), Jason Lensky (trombone), and Analiese Meidenbauer (tuba).

During their Lake Placid residence, the quintet will visit the Lake Placid Elementary School, the Lake Placid Middle High Schools and St. Agnes Primary School. The day will include an assembly performance at St. Agnes school, master classes for middle/high school band students and an interactive “Lunch and Learn” session at the elementary school where the entire student body will hear and interact with the quintet during their lunch hour.

The short evening recital and meet-and-greet reception is open to the public and appropriate for all ages. St. Eustace Church is in the middle of downtown Lake Placid, opposite Mid’s Park. There is no admission for the 5:30 p.m. recital or reception that will follow, but free-will donations to support the Lake Placid Sinfonietta’s Education program will be gratefully accepted.
