Main Street project begins Monday
LAKE PLACID — Main Street’s infrastructure overhaul is expected to begin on Monday, April 5.
State Department of Transportation electronic signs warn motorists coming into Lake Placid about the upcoming road work. Detour signs are up and covered in black plastic, ready to be unveiled. And temporary traffic lights have been set up at the corners of Main Street and Olympic Drive and Saranac Avenue and Wesvalley Road. During the work, Main Street will be open to one-way traffic, going toward Saranac Avenue from the post office. And Hillcrest Avenue will be one way, going from Saranac Avenue to the Crowne Plaza Resort.
The project will continue through fall 2023. Construction will halt in July and August, on weekends, on holidays and before peak fall tourism weekends. On construction days, crews will start setting up at 6 a.m. Work will start at 7 a.m. and finish by 5 p.m. For more information, visit the village website at http://villageoflakeplacid.ny.gov/content/Generic/View/141.
