Meanwhile … it’s ice out time in Lake Placid

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service is currently holding its 29th annual Ice Out Benefit.

The criteria for Mirror Lake is “lake substantially open, from shore to shore, from village to the Boathouse, maybe some in end bays.” The range for Mirror Lake is March 23 in 2012 to May 13 in 1971. Ice meisters are Jenn Holderied Webb, Jack Irvin and Theresa Brady.

For Lake Placid, the criteria is “navigate around the lake and through the straights.” The range for Lake Placid is March 26 in 2013 to May 16 in 1972. Ice meisters are Brian Bliss, Marty and Mary Shubert and Jim Forthsythe.

Tickets are available at the Lake Placid Visitors Center, Dr. Cerruti’s office, Station Street Wine & Liquor, Central Garage, Newman’s News, NBT Bank on Main Street, the LPVAS station at 388 Mill Pond Dr. and from members. Mail them to the LPVAS, P.O. Box 107, Lake Placid, NY 12946. Deadline is April 1. Proceeds will go toward replacing a 9-year-old ambulance.
