Trustee Jason Leon has already been put on the ballot as a Democrat and said he will also run on the Independent ballot. Trustee Peter Holderied is not on any ballot at the moment but is expected to run as an Independent.

Entry into the Republican and Democratic primaries closed Monday. Submissions for independent candidates will open Tuesday, Feb. 5 and close Wednesday, Feb. 13

The trustee positions are held for four years and can’t be filled by the same person for more than three consecutive terms. However, there are exceptions to that last rule. Leon recently entered his 10th year as trustee. That’s because when he first got the position in 2009, he was appointed by Mayor Craig Randall after then-Trustee Peter Roy resigned halfway through his term. Leon then ran the follow year to finish up Roy’s term, and ran again in 2011 for a full term. Holderied has been on the board for eight years.
