The Whiteface US Airbag was a big attraction during the Lake Placid Ironman triathlon in the municipal parking lot as seen here on July 28. The 50-foot x 50-foot pillow of air has several inflatable chambers specially designed to ensure a soft smooth landing. It's now back at Whiteface and open to the public for jumps. The attraction is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. now through Sept. 2 and from Sept. 6 to Oct. 14. The cost is $10 for one jump and $20 for three jumps. Those 17 and under need a parent's or legal guardian's signature, and all participants must sign a waiver.
