Here is a compilation of the day’s main events.

The annual parade starts next to Olympic Center at 5 p.m., makes its way down Main Street to High Peaks Resort

The Lake Placid Sinfonietta will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. in the Paul White Memorial shell in Mid’s Park in downtown Lake Placid. In the event of poor weather the concert will be moved to St. Agnes church on Saranac Ave. and begin at 7:15 p.m. A decision to move to the rain site will be made at 5 p.m. with a notice will posted on the website and displayed on a sign at the street level of the park.

The I Love BBQ and Music Festival will be taking place during the day at the Olympic Oval. There will be food, music and other action, including rides for the kids. Admission is $6 for adults and free for children under 10. The event is a fundraiser for the Thomas Shipman Youth Center in Lake Placid and all proceed go to that organization. Set the Night to Music Fireworks Show, dusk (9:45 p.m.), over Mirror Lake. Choreographed to music, broadcast live over WSLP 93.3 FM.

For those who fear inclement weather for the fireworks show, Kathy Pfohl, the director of special projects at the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism/Lake Placid CVB, had some encouraging news.

“We have never had to reschedule the fireworks due to rain,” she wrote to the News in an email. “We have delayed them for 45 minutes but never cancelled.”

She added that in the event the fireworks show does have to be cancelled, it will be postponed until the following night.
