Luger participates in 2034 Olympic Committee event
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — As the International Olympic Committee plans to announce the 2034 Winter Games host city on July 24, members of the Salt Lake City-Utah 2034 Committee are hoping to close out more than a decade-long pursuit to bring the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games back to Utah in 2034.
On July 9, the SLC-UT 2034 Committee hosted a presentation to regional news media with a press conference and stage event at the Kiln in Salt Lake City. In addition to bid leaders and Olympic medalists, future stars of winter sport attended, including Orson Colby, a member of the USA Luge Junior National C Team.
“I am so excited to be included in this historic event,” Colby said. “I am so honored to be recognized as a junior athlete with USA Luge and Youth Sports Alliance. Participating in the 2024 Youth Olympic Games was so amazing and I can think of nothing better than having the Olympics in Salt Lake, my hometown.”
In addition to attending the press conference, Colby, of Riverton, Utah, will travel to Paris on July 22 to participate in the IOC session prior to the election announcement of the 2034 host city.
The nine-circuit World Cup season will kick-off in Lillehammer, Norway, November 29-December 1, 2024, with the 53rdWorld Championships scheduled for February 6-9, 2025, in Whistler, Canada.
