The teams then played a scoreless five-minute sudden-death overtime.
“We actually had a chance to pull it out in the last minute of overtime,” SLP head coach Butch Martin said. “It would have been great to get the win, but in the end, the feeling was, ‘We’ll take the tie and get out of town. We just tied the state semifinalists who basically pummeled us the last two times out.'”
