LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid boys and girls varsity soccer teams carried a combined 1-3 record into this week and both squads had two more matches on the schedule heading into the weekend.

Each team was slated to play their third matches this past Wednesday, both against Saranac Lake, in what were season-openers for the Red Storm.

The girls contest was scheduled to take place on the Blue Bombers home field at the North Elba Show Grounds while the boys were playing at the Petrova Avenue pitch next to the Saranac Lake Middle School.

Lake Placid’s fourth matches of the season are slated for Friday, both against Saranac Central. The Blue Bombers girls host Saranac starting at 4 p.m. and the boys travel to face the Chiefs under the lights with the opening kickoff slated for 6 p.m.

The Blue Bombers boys entered the week looking for their first victory after falling 2-1 to Wilsboro in overtime and following with a 3-1 setback against Saranac Central.
