Balanced Bombers blast Willsboro

LAKE PLACID – The Lake Placid boys soccer team improved its record to 5-2 on Thursday with a convincing 7-0 Northern Soccer League victory over Willsboro.

The Blue Bombers scored early and often as seven different players found the back of the net in the first half. Stuart Baird struck first with a goal in the sixth minute on a pass from Lucas Strack. Ryan Damp gave Lake Placid a 2-0 lead less than three minutes later with the assist going to Miles Lussi.

Alex Brandes, Tarik Cecujanin, Billy Waldy and Jason Hanulla followed suit with goals that set the halftime score at 7-0.

Brandes and Noah Mohr combined to man the goal for the Blue Bombers, with Brandes stopping four shots and Nohr turning away three.

Lake Placid outshot Willsboro 24-10. Lucan Cross made 19 saves in the losing effort.

VOLLEYBALL

Saranac 3, Lake Placid 2

SARANAC – The Lake Placid volleyball team was on the doorstep of victory Thursday, but was unable to open the door as Saranac escaped with a 22-25, 25-13, 23-25, 25-23, 25-21 victory.

Lake Placid junior Kiana Fell had a strong match, racking up six kills and 23 assists to go along with seven aces and 13 points at the serving stripe. Brenna Garrett led the Blue Bombers at the net with 21 kills and 10 assists. Georgia O’Leary added five kills, five digs and 11 service points, while Victoria O’Leary chipped in four kills and six digs.

Anna Dorrance led the way for Saranac with 14 kills and 12 digs, while Mary Hutti contributed 15 digs and 19 service points.
