Chapot sweeps another two

LAKE PLACID – Laura Chapot won both the $1,500 Beacon Hill Horse Transportation 1.35m Jumper Class and the 1.30m Speed Class on Wednesday at the inaugural Adirondack Horse Show.

The Neshanic Station, New Jersey resident started the day off with a win on Out of Ireland in the one-round 1.30m Speed Stake. She followed that up with a win in the $1,500 Beacon Hill Horse Transportation 1.35m Jumper Class on Umberto.

Chapot topped a field of 20 horses by riding Umberto to two clean rounds and the fastest jump-off time of 30.722 seconds. Adam Prudent of Middleburg, Virginia placed second with two clean rounds and a jump-off time of 33.000 seconds on Si Bella and Jimmy Torano of Fort Lauderdale, Florida took third with two clean rounds and a jump-off time of 33.117 seconds on Wannahave.

The inaugural Adirondack Horse Show runs through Sunday at the North Elba Show Grounds and culminates three consecutive horse shows in Lake Placid. The three Lake Placid Horse Shows draw a wide range of riders, including Olympic veterans and international show jumping stars. The three-week horse show series hosts all levels of competition, from those just beginning their riding careers on ponies all the way up to grand prix competitors, vying for over $750,000 in prize money.

Highlighting this week is the $100,000 Woodlea Farms Adirondack Grand Prix, presented by Seashore Stables, LLC on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Admission to the Lake Placid Horse Shows is $2 on weekdays and $5 on weekends. Children under the age of 12 are admitted free. Discounts are available for groups of 20 or more and admission is half price with a Price Chopper Advantage Card. Tickets are available at the gate.
