Skiers prepare for the start of the third annual Wood ‘N’ Ski Rendezvous on Saturday at Cascade Ski Center in Lake Placid. Participants were required to use wooden skis, 3-pin bindings and vintage clothing for the 5-kilometer race, which was followed with music by the Barn Cats. Doug Bencze of Tupper Lake won the men’s race in 22:18, Greg Connelly of South Burlington was second in 22:30 and Jim Brundage of Newcomb was third with a time of 24:22. Sarah Bencze of Tupper Lake was the women’s winner in 27:07, followed by Jennie Sausville of Saranac Lake in 28:34 and Liz Rovers of Saratoga in 31:29. Photo provided
