Lions roar past Bombers hoops teams

ELIZABETHTOWN – The Elizabethtown-Lewis boys basketball team built a big lead in the first half and hung on to beat Lake Placid 52-35 on Tuesday night.

The Blue Bombers fought back with a 17-10 third quarter, but the damage had already been done. The Lions capped the victory by outscoring Lake Placid 21-12 in the fourth.

Tarik Cucunjanin led Lake Placid in scoring with nine points, while teammate Scott Rossi chipped in six.

Zac Noka-Bailey led all scorers with 23 points for the Lions. Teammate Cortland White had 10 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Elizabethtown-Lewis 43, Lake Placid 15

LAKE PLACID – The Elizabethtown-Lewis girls basketball team held Lake Placid below 10 points in every quarter on the way to a 43-15 victory Tuesday night.

Jasmin Barnes poured in 20 points and Lily Whalen had nine to pace the Lions.

Chloe Uebrick led the Blue Bombers with four points.
