Peter's vision, skill and incredible craftsmanship were the foundation of his restoration of Adirondack Great Camps leading to the creation of Cascade Builders. Beyond his ability to create these stunning homes, he was able to translate peoples ideas and dreams into reality and works of art. His knowledge and sensitivity allowed him to bring together many different perspectives and orchestrate a common goal while bringing out the very best talents of all his tradespeople.

In the words of his niece Kristy Moles, Peter was "a successful, brilliantly gifted artist and builder; a kind, generous, motivated and unconditionally loving father and the absolute love of my Aunt Patty's life. A genuine guy with his head dreaming in the clouds and his feet firmly planted in reality. He had a perfect sense of humor that included child-like practical jokes, killer sarcasm and lovely inappropriateness."

Peter's heart was in the mountains where he loved to ski, teach skiing and compete with friends in events at Mount Van Hoevenberg. His sense of adventure drove him to Hood River, Oregon, where he could share his love of windsurfing and kiting with his family and friends.

A celebration of Peter's life will take place at the Lake Placid Club Golf House on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Thomas Shipman Youth Center P.O. Box 1122, Lake Placid, NY 12946.
