WEST ISLIP - Joseph A. Faccibene, Sr. of West Islip, Long Island, died on Sunday, June 3, 2012.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mae J. Faccibene; devoted father of Joseph A. Mary Kay) Faccibene, Jr., Michael C. (Cathy) Faccibene and Peter J. (Doreen) Faccibene; cherished grandfather of seven; loving brother of Constance Faccibene and Angela Torres; devoted brother-in-law of Jackie and Louise Curry; adored companion of Jean Santoro; and best friend for 70 years of Thomas Gambino.
Joseph was a dedicated public servant, a proud U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War, a dedicated firefighter with the Fire Department of New York, past commander of West Islip American Legion, Post 1738, past president of the West Islip Republican Club, spiritual care companion with Catholic Health Services and chairman of Boy Scout Troop 160.
Reposing was held at the Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Hwy. The West Islip American Legion Post 1738 held a service Wednesday, June 6 at 8 p.m. Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian burial was held Thursday, June 7 at St. Joseph's RC Church in Babylon, N.Y.. Interment followed at St. John's Cemetery in Middle Village, Long Island.
