To the editor:

A big, big thank you to the many people who came together to raise more than $9,100 to support Ukrainians and Ukraine war victims through the World Central Kitchen during a benefit dinner on Friday, May 20 at the Keen fire hall. We set our sights high of serving 150 meals, and you blew past that. Wow! And hurrah!

We cannot thank the Keene Fire Department enough for lending us the space. So, a big shout out the Jodi Whitney, Dre Roebuck and all who made that possible along with the Valley Gro, Price Chopper and Sam’s Club for their donations. Nancy McArthur and the kitchen crew were amazing. A big hug to them and all of the Keene Valley Congregational Church and the Adirondack Friends of Refugees and Immigrants benefit volunteers, and to Dmitry Feld for his uplifting remarks.

At the same time, we send our love to Brian Mann and wish him a speedy recovery from COVID and a big thank you to him for representing our region and telling the stories of the people of Ukraine through his NPR reports.

Also, it’s never too late to help support the cause. Let’s see if we can make it $10,000 to the World Central Kitchen — https://donate.wck.org/team/425001.
