Why Jay Rand should be elected supervisor

To the editor:

I have had the pleasure of knowing Jay Rand for over 22 years and can attest he is an individual who possesses a very high degree of integrity and that he also has the leadership capabilities needed to work easily and effectively with all facets of the community

Jay is without question a talented leader who has demonstrated that he has the intuitive ability to see how everything fits into the larger scheme of things. He is an exceptional person who is fair and consistent. Jay does not act impulsively but rather his decisions are well thought out and his judgements are clearly reasoned and well thought out.

Jay also has the ability to focus on what is imperative for the village and town to continue to thrive in the decades ahead. I have always been keenly interested in the qualities of exceptional leaders and what these leaders possess to make them effective. In all that is stated about leadership, one quality always stands out as the most important essential piece and that is “character” — having the guts to do the right thing even when you know it will cost you. It is about “trust.” Jay’s “character” has always stood above most.

With the many challenges that lay before us and that the success of the village and town will depend on having strong leaders. Their capabilities to imagine new strategies to prepare for the future are paramount. These challenges will certainly be met by Jay Rand as North Elba’s supervisor.

Jay will continue to bring the necessary perspective to guide the town well into the 21st century.

Jay Rand is an outstanding supervisor and has my unconditional support.
