Rain or shine, it will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the North Elba Show Grounds. After a year off in 2020 and being held in September in 202 due to the coronavirus pandemic, Community Day returns to its spring time slot.

Community Day is like an old-fashioned country fair. Free picnic fare will include hamburgers, hot dogs and beverages (including beer) donated by local businesses. Live music will be provided by Quantum Cosmic (including members of Annie in the Water, Raisinhead and The Reflexions). There will be fun and games for people of all ages — with even more children’s activities this year, including a dinosaur theme for the sing-a-long and dance party.

Plus, a variety of volunteer organizations will be coming out to show off the wonderful work they do to keep this a vibrant community. You will have the opportunity to sign an volunteer for an organization that fits your personality and time availability.

It will also be the time to learn who is named the town/village distinguished volunteers of the year — honoring one adult and one youth. The announcement will be made at 3 p.m.

Community Day was founded in 2018 to foster the spirit of volunteerism and promote it for future generations. It also gives our service organizations the added exposure they need to recruit new volunteers and show the community all they’ve done to make this one of the best places to live and visit in the world.
