We’re fortunate to have these concerts in Lake Placid. Unlike the large sporting events that take over the town for weeks at a time -designed mainly for tourists – the Sinfonietta and Songs at Mirror Lake concerts are designed to offer world-class music to both residents and visitors. Week after week, they delivered high-quality entertainment. It’s a great asset for the tourism industry, especially by offering events in the middle of the week, yet they were both accessible to the locals. If you couldn’t afford a ticket for the Sinfonietta’s LPCA concerts, their Mid’s Park Series was free every Wednesday night, as were the Songs at Mirror Lake concerts every Tuesday night.

Thanks to both series – the staff, volunteers, musicians and sponsors – for being part of what makes life in Lake Placid so special.

Yet the music never really goes away, and it’s not limited to Lake Placid. In addition to summer concerts in nearby Wilmington, Keene Valley, Jay and Saranac Lake, there are plenty of venues that feature music throughout the year. Businesses – especially hotels and restaurants – and arts centers – such as the LPCA and Upper Jay Arts Center/Recovery Lounge – are continual sources of entertainment for residents. We are lucky to have them all.
