Film Forum worth a visit

The Adirondack Film Society continues to give movie lovers what they want – more movies – as the Lake Placid Film Forum once again offers a variety of films for Tri-Lakes residents and visitors to enjoy.

Since its inception in 2000, the Lake Placid Film Forum has been the Adirondack North Country’s premier film event. It’s one place in the region where filmgoers and movie buffs can count on seeing cutting edge independent films, first-rate documentaries, and the best of the best among studio movies while meeting filmmakers and industry pros in an up-close-and-personal setting.

The Adirondack Film Society doesn’t just screen films: it curates, analyzes and seeks to help educate audience members about the films it presents. This year’s edition of the film forum is a perfect example of that. Between Wednesday, June 3, and Sunday, June 7, moviegoers will be able to attend more than a dozen screenings.

The Lake Placid Film Forum kicked off Wednesday, June 3 with a screening of “Jaws,” directed by Steven Spielberg, at Mid’s Park.

Indoor venues include the Lake Placid Center for the Arts and the Palace Theatre. Admission to each screening is $10. For more information, visit the newly launched AFS website, www.adirondackfilmsociety.org.
