At 44 years old, Ed oversees, operates and maintains the largest single investment our small community has. Our water source is a mountain stream that flows into a man-made impoundment. The water is pumped up to our treatment facility where certain chemicals are added to aid in filtration and for disinfection. This then flows to our distribution system.

Our water system consists of 14.6 miles of pipe, 215 valves, 130 fire hydrants, 576 service connections, three pump stations and two storage tanks. Ed is also responsible for the water supply to Wilmington’s own Whiteface Mountain Ski Center.

Ed has multiple licenses to run and operate our water system. He also must receive ongoing training to keep his certifications up to date. His job is seven days a week, Samples must be collected and tested, operations need to be monitored and adjusted as needed. Should Ed ever need to take a vacation, there is a system in place to make sure everything stays operating with our water system.

Believe it or not, Ed does have a life outside the town of Wilmington. In his spare time, he serves as a volunteer fire commissioner with the Wilmington Fire District. He has a love for golf, and we are told that he can swing a golf club.

Ed is married to his wife Theresa, and they have one son named Ed. He graduates from the Lake Placid High School this June. Young Ed has an interest in culinary arts and definitely has some of his father’s positive traits.

Working with Ed is a pleasure. He takes personal ownership of his department and is always responsive with thoughtful input on town projects. I am glad Ed works for our community and his “WILMINGTON WAY” has served our town very well. It is good to have him on our team.
