AROUND AUSABLE: Rotary taking part in program to help soldiers overseas

The Rotary Club of the AuSable Valley is involved in a very special project which I just became aware of so at this time I will pass what information I have on to my readers. Members of the club are presently putting together boxes for members of our military serving overseas during this holiday season. The following items are being sent: personal hygiene items, lip balm, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, note paper, envelopes, stamps, Kleenex, lotion, warm socks, international calling cards, gum, hard candy, individual packages of trail mix and crackers, cards and card games.

There is also a need for monetary donations to ship these items. Feel free to send a card or note and please add your name and address to any correspondence. All donations may be dropped off to the ambulance station over the weekend as all items must be shipped on Monday, Nov. 15. Contact Tami Bushey at 647-8232 or Shirley Thomas at 569-8433 for any items to be picked up. Please help our servicemen and women enjoy their holiday season a little more with these gifts from back home. The club thanks all those who donated to this very worthy cause.

The Rotary Club of the AuSable Valley held their Annual Fall Fest Dinner and Auctions at the American Legion Post 504 in AuSable Forks on Oct. 23. One hundred five delicious meals were served. Following dinner, auctioneer Steve Brodi began putting the numerous wonderful donated items on the auction block. All proceeds from this very successful evening will go to the Scholarship Fund. Thanks to the American Legion staff for the wonderful service, all individuals and business’s who donated items for the auction, all those who attended this event and Auctioneer Steve for his wonderful services.
