AROUND AUSABLE: Halloween events well attended

Our town was full of ghosts and goblins from Friday through Sunday for all the Halloween celebrations. The fun began on Friday at the American Legion Post 504 with a Halloween party during happy hour. There was a full house to enjoy all the fun. Ray Longinetti put on a great magic show and kept everyone very entertained. Games of trivia were played and each person answering the question correctly was awarded a prize.  Delicious snacks were served and Ray and Ruth Longinetti were the costume contest winners. A great time was had by all attending and plans are underway to make next year’s party bigger and better.

Saturday Night’s celebration at Riverside Lanes began with Gary Peacock emcee for the evening with his DJ service and trivia contests. Gary kept the dance floor filled to capacity throughout the evening with great tunes. At midnight the winners of the costume contest were announced. The winners were: first place, Kristen Perkins who was dressed as Pretty Woman Julia Roberts, received $75 and second place went to Kevin McCallister who dressed as KISS, received $50. A great time was had by all attending.

20 Main’s celebration began with great musical entertainment by Shameless Strangers. Ghosts and goblins enjoyed all the fun there throughout the night.

Sunday night the streets were filled with lots of little trick or treaters having the time of their life. Jersey section and Palmer Street were two of the busiest sections in town and all the kids went home with lots of goodies.

The second Spectacular Spooktacular held at Hollywood Theatre and hosted by AuSable Forks Elementary School’s Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) on Oct. 23 was a huge success and very well attended. Children and adults both enjoyed a great variety of family friendly movies, face-painting, by Andrea Hoffman of Peru, and balloon animals by Merriloons from AuSable Acres and treats were given to all attending.

Raffles were held with a variety of wonderful items generously donated by various business’s and individuals, and a big screen TV was also raffled. The PTO was very happy to have raised approximately $1,600 from the day’s activities that lasted from noon to11 p.m. The profit will be used to provide school supplies for each student for  the 2011-2012 academic year.

Thanks to the generosity of those attending 20 bags of non-perishable food was donated to the town of Jay food shelf.  The PTO wishes to thank all who attended, donated to this event in any way and extends a big thank you to Sierra and Cory Hauf for once again holding this event at the theater. Plans will be under way soon to plan next year’s third annual Spooktacular.
