Born on Sept. 15, 1931, in Rutland, Vermont, she was the daughter of Hugh and Hazel Ridlon. She was a 1949 graduate of Lake Placid Central High School.

She was predeceased by her husband, William H. Lawrence of Lake Placid in 2003.

She leaves behind her children, Cathy, Susan, William, Joan, Robert and their spouses, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister Ann. Janice was a long-time employee of Howard Johnson’s Restaurant working in the office for Ron Butler until her retirement in 1995.

She enjoyed quilting, rug hooking and needlepoint and was part of a rug hooking group in Vestal, New York, where she lived until 2021.

Graveside services will be held at North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid in May.
