Carol was born in Lake Placid on July 17, 1939 to Charlotte and Halsey Shumway. Carol graduated from Lake Placid High School in 1958. On Sept. 21, 1962, she married Bruce P. Aiken at St. Agnes Catholic Church.

Carol is survived by her sons Andrew Aiken and his wife Tammy (Omiecinski) Aiken of Fabius, New York and Bruce P. Aiken, Jr., of Lake Placid.

She is also survived by her grandchildren Kristen Aiken Mosley and her husband Jay of Leesburg, Virginia and Daniel Aiken of Raleigh, North Carolina, her niece Cindy (Smart) Muehle and her husband Kirk of Windham, Maine, her great-niece Breanna Flarherty and her husband Mike of Yarmouth, Maine and her great-great niece Ella Hope Muehle and her mother Ashley Kirby of Windham, Maine.

Carol was predeceased by her husband Bruce P. Aiken, her parents Halsey and Charlotte Shumway of Lake Placid, her sister Shirley (Shumway) Smart, her brother-in-law, Richard Smart of Lake Placid, and her great-nephew Brent Muehle of Windham, Maine.

Carol was a long-time employee of the Bank of Lake Placid and NBT Bank.

She was an avid outdoor woman, who found peace at her Camp Woodsmoke in Colton, New York.

There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with M.B. Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid.

The family will have a private celebration of her life. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Lake Placid.
