Bruce was born in Massena on Feb. 4, 1962, the son of Stewart and Pauline (Ashley) Thompson. Bruce was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his longtime companion Sarah Dowie; sisters Stephanie Premo (Tom) and Laurie Grove (Robert); nephews Brian Premo, Derek Premo (David) and Alexander Grove; and many cousins.

Bruce was a member of the Massena Volunteer Fire Department. He also served as a member and was a captain of the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department for four years and worked at various establishments in Lake Placid — the Upper Crust Bakery, the Woodshed, the Cottage Cafe, Desperados, Lake Placid Carpet Care, the Cascade Inn and the Olympic Training Center — prior to moving to Connecticut, where he worked as a journeyman lineman at Eversource (Connecticut Light & Power) until his passing.

Memorial services will be held at the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire department on Saturday, June 12 at 11 a.m.
