LAKE PLACID — Construction along Main Street continues this week with more work expected at the Saranac Avenue intersection and along the north end of the street, as well as on Mirror Lake Drive.

This week, construction crews plan to continue to install a new water main, starting on the north end of the street at the Saranac Avenue intersection. Crews plan to start connecting service to the new water line, starting at that intersection and going to the Lake Placid Public Library.

Mirror Lake Drive will be under construction as a crew starts grading for a new curb. Stormwater drainage will be installed at the north end of the street near Players Bar & Grill.

Construction work along these same lines is expected to happen next week as well, according to a news release from the village. Construction crews will start to install the new curb on Mirror Lake Drive next week.

The current traffic detours will continue until the end of June. Drivers traveling to Lake Placid from Saranac Lake, or vice versa, are being directed to use Old Military Road. Traffic will continue to move one way north from the post office to the Saranac Avenue intersection. Hillcrest Avenue is currently one way, southbound to the Crowne Plaza on Olympic Drive. Olympic Drive between the Crowne Plaza and Main Street is two-way.

The two temporary traffic lights, at Olympic Drive and the Wesvalley Road-Saranac Avenue intersection, are still active.

Businesses remain open. There is generally no construction on weekends and holidays.

Starting at $1.44/week.
