Peru Federal Credit Union has changed its name to Mountain Valley Federal Credit Union.

According to credit union CEO Maggie Fournier-Pope, the business began in the 1950s and originally served Peru Central School employees, but gradually grew over the decades. MVFCU now operates branches in Peru, Keeseville and AuSable Forks.

The credit union plans to open a branch in Wilmington — its second in Essex County — on May 17, and the new name reflects the financial institution’s size and geographic reach.

Fournier-Pope said she expects the credit union to continue expanding.

Starting at $1.44/week.
