The free event, to take place in the Memorial Field for Black Lives installation at John Brown Farm State Historic Site, will be capped at 50 people to accommodate state physical distancing requirements. Because of this, folks are asked to preregister by emailing info@johnbrownlives.org.

The concert was originally scheduled for Saturday but has been moved to its rain date because of the weather forecast.

If you can’t make it to the concert, which includes a performance by Burnham and bassist Fred Cash followed by a “string-along” including local musicians, the event will be recorded and made available at www.johnbrownlives.org.

The Violin Vigil is to honor Elijah McClain, a 23-year-old massage therapist and violinist who died or cardiac arrest after Aurora, Colorado, police put him a chokehold and paramedics injected him with a sedative last August.

The installation is by artist Karen Davidson of Saranac Lake. Masks and physical distancing are required at the event.
