Police investigating robbery at Black Rooster Maple in Keene

KEENE — A farmstand here was robbed on Sunday, July 5. New York State Police are investigating, and no one has yet been charged in connection with the case.

Police say a man entered the Black Rooster Maple farmstand on state Route 73 Sunday morning and made off with $250 in cash and a bottle of maple syrup.

A surveillance camera inside the farmstand captured a relatively clear image of the man — who was wearing a grey t-shirt, light blue jeans, a cross necklace, glasses and a red hat — inside the stand around 9:20 a.m. on Sunday. In a post on a popular social media platform used by many Keene residents, owner Kristy Bassarab posted the image and said the man entered the stand, cleaned out the cash box and took some maple syrup.

The image was shared on another social media platform, and not long after the man was allegedly spotted in a photo taken in Tupper Lake a few days prior, rumors began circulating that the man had been caught.

New York State Police are still investigating the theft, according to Troop B Public Information Officer Jennifer Fleishman.

Starting at $1.44/week.
