LP firefighters to wear extra gear

LAKE PLACID — Members of the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department will look a little different while responding to calls during the COVID-19 crisis, LPVFD officials announced on Wednesday, March 25.

Along with wearing normal turnout gear, firefighters may be seen wearing other personal protective equipment — including self-contained breathing apparatus (SCUBA) or air tanks with breathing masks — at most scenes, including inline alarms and car accidents.

“What will not change will be our dedication to the community and our commitment to your individual safety,” the press release stated. “The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department is still operating as normal and are proud to continue to serve the Olympic community.”

Starting at $1.44/week.
