Essex County Board of Elections

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Essex County Board of Elections will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, March 23. Starting Tuesday, March 24, the office will be open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Voter registration forms and absentee ballot forms are available for download on the county’s website at co.essex.ny.us/wp/board-of-elections.

The BOE can be reached at 518-873-3474 or via email at elections@essexcountyny.gov.

Essex County offices

ELIZABETHTOWN — Until further notice, business hours of the Essex County clerk’s office and Department of Motor Vehicles will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., but not all county offices are open.

The county clerk’s Records Room is closed to the public until further notice, although the clerk’s office will remain open with a reduced staff to accept recordings and filings. Except in emergency cases, be prepared to drop off recordings and receive a receipt in the mail.

The Elizabethtown DMV and the county clerk’s pistol permit office are now conducting transactions by appointment only. Call before coming in. The DMV can be reached at 518-873-3620, pistol permits at 518-873-3604. The Ticonderoga DMV is closed until further notice.

Wilmington Community Center

WILMINGTON — The Wilmington Community Center is closed to the public but has transitioned to “curbside service.”

Residents who need to access services provided by the town are encouraged to call 518-946-7174 or 518-946-7179.

Wilmington town court will resume on May 10 at 10 a.m. The town landfill is still open regular hours, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Elizabethtown Community Hospital

ELIZABETHTOWN — The University of Vermont Health Network – Elizabethtown Community Hospital will alter operating hours at three of its six community-based health centers in an effort to redirect care teams to its COVID-19 response. Regular business hours at the Crown Point and High Peaks Health Centers, and Saturday hours at the Elizabethtown Community Health Center, will be suspended.

“In an effort to reinforce social distancing and limit the spread of COVID-19,” ECH Medical Director for Primary Care Dr. Rob Demuro said in a statement. “We have postponed health center appointments that can be safely delayed, like routine check-ups. This helps protect our patients and allows our providers to focus on our COVID-19 response.”

Until regular operating hours resume, Crown Point and High Peaks Health Center patients can continue to receive care at the Au Sable Forks Health Center, Elizabethtown Community Health Center, Smith House Health Center in Willsboro, or Westport Health Center.

Village Mercantile

SARANAC LAKE — The Village Mercantile will temporarily close its store at 97 Main St. due to concerns for the well-being of customers and staff arising from the COVID-19 virus. It will, however, continue to serve our customers by phone, email and through villagemerc.com.

The store will maintain a skeleton staff to offer personal shopping assistance to our customers by phone (518-354-8173) or email (terry@community-store.org) with local delivery and curbside pickup options. The phone lines will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and all voice or email messages outside these hours will be responded to as quickly as possible.

A book signing scheduled with Lorraine Duvall has been postponed.
