LAKE PLACID – This village may only have about 2,500 year-round residents, but the greater Lake Placid community is much larger, and celebrating this community has become a top priority for local leaders.

Enter the Lake Placid Community Day and Picnic – an old-fashioned country fair style day designed solely for the people who live, work and volunteer here. It will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 2 at the North Elba Showgrounds.

Editor Andy Flynn recently spoke with Lake Placid Community Day Planning Committee Chair Valerie Abraham-Rogers about last year’s event, what’s new this year and why it’s important to the community.
