Also, the start time has been moved back from 5:30 to 6 p.m.

Now 11 athletes who participated in the Sochi games and who live in Lake Placid at least part-time are confirmed to attend the parade, according to Jon Lundin, spokesman for the state Olympic Regional Development Authority. Six had been announced previously.

The participating Olympians are Lake Placid native, alpine skier and 2014 silver medalist Andrew Weibrecht; lugers Chris Mazdzer of Saranac Lake, 2014 bronze medalist Erin Hamlin, Tucker West, Aidan Kelly, Summer Britcher, Jayson Terdiman and Matt Mortenson; bobsledder Justin Olsen and bobsled double bronze medalists Steven Holcomb and Steve Langton.

More local Olympians may join if they are available, Lundin said.

The parade will begin on Cummings Road and go down Main Street to the Cottage Cafe – owned by Ed and Lisa Andrew Weibrecht, parents of Andrew Weibrecht. There will be speeches by Olympians, village Mayor Craig Randall and others. Fireworks over Mirror Lake will follow around 7:30 p.m.

A second local welcome home parade for local Olympians will be held Wednesday, March 26 in Saranac Lake, starting at 3:15 p.m. at the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, 54 Broadway, and proceeding down Broadway and Main Street to the Harrietstown Town Hall, where the Olympians will be available for autographs and photos. So far, five Olympians have said they’ll be there, according to Lundin: biathletes Lowell Bailey of Lake Placid, Tim Burke of Paul Smiths (now living in Lake Placid) and Annelies Cook of Saranac Lake, nordic combined skier Bill Demong of Vermontville (now living in Utah) and ski jumper Peter Frenette of Saranac Lake.

U.S. skeleton coach Tuffy Latour of Saranac Lake is also expected to be on the float, according to parade organizer Kelly Morgan.
